The 7th & 8th grade Religious Formation Curriculum is a two-year Confirmation preparation program, which will meet 2-3 times a month in person, in the classroom, with a team of Catechists. In order to have a teen prepared for the Sacrament of Confirmation, the youth will be enrolled for 2 consecutive years. The Chosen Confirmation Model emphasizes small-group “discipleship”. This is the way Jesus formed the faith of the first disciples.
All Middle School teens should complete the proper 2024-2025 Registration Forms.
Middle School sessions will meet on Monday evenings: 4:45 pm-6:15 pm or 7:00 pm-8:30 pm
Beginning in late September.
The format is designed to provide the essential intellectual and spiritual catechesis that is so vital to sacramental preparation. With the goal to bring about a personal encounter with Jesus Christ – to develop a community full of disciples. The Chosen Confirmation Preparation is designed by Chris Stefanick and a team of young, Catholic contributors. The name, Chosen, is meant to convey that Confirmation is not so much about us choosing God, as it is about God choosing us! Each student will receive a student workbook which will be used for 2 years. The Lesson Plans include video lessons that are used in conjunction with the student workbooks.
Our task in faith formation is to “…present Christ as the Son of God, friend, guide, and model who can not only be admired but also imitated.” National Directory for Catechesis
In his opening remarks for World Youth Day in Cologne in 2005, Pope Benedict XVI made this challenge, “Let Jesus surprise us during these days.” For adolescents this is a particularly rich and important opportunity to help them be surprised by Christ and to help them to meet Jesus again for the first time. This encounter is not a one-time experience; it happens over time within the much larger process of evangelization within which youth strive to become disciples.
Our starting point for all ministry with youth is a stance of listening and compassion for young people. As a faith community we can listen to youth, love them, and provide witness and instruction that guides a new generation of disciples towards bold and transforming faith.
Adolescents are ready and waiting to be invited to the adventure of their lifetime!
The adventure of discipleship begins with the encounter with Christ.
